Department of ENGLISH

The Department of English is one of the pioneer departments in the Arts faculty with two full-time faculty members and one ad hoc teacher.  The subject has been taught in the college since its inception in 1991. But it was introduced as a special subject in 1994. PG centre for English was set up in 2014. The Department offers courses in English language and literature at undergraduate and post graduate levels. The Department has been handling English language and literature classes for the degree courses offered by the college since the days of its inception.

The highlights of the department are: 

1. The Department has latest audio-visual equipment including computer,
2. Interactive board for the effective teaching and learning.
3. Department has good collection of books in the Departmental Library.
4. It also has number of quality e content material that enables the screening of the same.
5. The Department has setup a language laboratory facility. It has N-Computing facility with one master server and twelve computers with Orell’s wi-fi facilty. It is connected with wi-fi facility.
6. The teachers and the students are actively involved in various various curricular and co-curricular activities.
7. In the academic year 2016-17 the Department had organized two-day National Level Seminar on ‘Marginalized Literature.
8. Spelling Competition is organized in which large number of students participated in the event.
9. Participation in various Seminars/ Conferences at State/ National and Internal Level.
10. Two faculties with Ph. D and working as Ph. D. Supervisors. One faculty has registered for Ph.D.
11. Use of ICT for teaching and learning. The ICT tools such as Google Classroom is being used for the purpose of teaching and learning.
12. One of the faculties has launched his own educational channel and created the content which has also been accepted as university repository by Savitribai Phule Pune University.
